Nachos are eaten by reaching into the top of the container and pulling out individual chips — a behavior that requires the container to be open at the top and to have sides tall enough to contain the chips and toppings during this repeated motion without spillage.
The sides of the nacho tray need to be tall enough to contain chips that are being pulled from the top — standard nacho tray side heights range from 60mm to 90mm depending on the portion size and the depth of the nacho stack. The base needs to be wide enough to distribute the weight of a loaded nacho across a surface area large enough to prevent the tray from being top-heavy and unstable.
